Situation
The network operator experienced a shortage of experienced staff to train new technicians one-on-one, and more efficient training was needed to train more technicians. We supported the development of a (formal) technical education programme to increase the quality of learning and to safeguard existing technical knowledge.
Approach
First, we theoretically determined what knowledge and skills a technician should have. Then, we translated these learning objectives into the most efficient training methodology. Finally, we set and secured the training programme by determining who gives the lessons and how (and by whom) this programme is managed.
Results
- Instead of 1 on 1 training, several candidates can now be trained simultaneously
- A successful training programme for new technicians with the right guidance and the management of the programme is well ensured
- Technical knowledge is now secured in a formal training programme
