AI-powered regulatory monitoring

Reducing manual monitoring effort through automated regulation tracking on Databricks.

Situation

One of the Netherlands’ largest health insurance providers struggled to maintain oversight of relevant legislation, supervisory publications and external policy developments. Important updates were tracked largely through manual effort, visibility was fragmented across teams, relevant publications could be missed, and there was no centrally managed process for reviewing and following up on incoming signals in a structured and traceable way.

Approach

Valcon built Regulation Radar, an AI-supported monitoring solution on Databricks that periodically scans public sources and enriches new publications with AI-generated summaries, labels and impact assessments.

Databricks Jobs schedule both the ingestion and enrichment processes, while the AI Gateway provides the flexibility to switch underlying models without redesigning the solution. Each stakeholder group can define its own sources and classification logic, enabling the platform to remain governed, reusable and scalable across the organisation.

Results

Regulation Radar provides a centrally managed environment where relevant developments are collected, enriched with context and surfaced to business stakeholders in a structured and traceable way.

The solution reduces manual monitoring effort, improves the consistency and quality of follow-up activities, and enables stakeholders to make faster, better-informed decisions on incoming regulatory developments.

Built as an operational Data & AI product, the platform can be extended over time with new sources, stakeholder groups and evolving business logic, ensuring it remains scalable and adaptable as regulatory requirements continue to evolve.
