As a Data Specialist at Valcon, you’ll be the technical authority that both clients and colleagues turn to for guidance. What will you do?

In this role, you combine deep technical expertise with a solid understanding of data challenges and solutions in the financial services industry. You are responsible for maintaining highest quality standards for data solutions Valcon develops and you guide clients in their journeys to becoming fully data-driven organisations.

Guiding & Connecting: You’ll design complex, scalable data solutions that enable seamless risk and finance modelling and reporting. By connecting business requirements with technical implementation, you’ll create maximum value for clients while following industry best practices in data warehousing, quality, and governance.

Innovation & Standardization: You’ll stay ahead of market developments in analytics tools and methodologies, translating them into new approaches and standards for Valcon. You’ll shape how we build analytics solutions and ensure we maintain our technical leadership in the analytics space.

Inspiring Mentorship: You’ll mentor senior specialists and specialists, actively contributing to knowledge sharing through expert training and coaching. Your guidance will help colleagues grow professionally and technically in the data domain of financial services organisations.

Trusted Advisor: Clients see you as the expert. You’ll join strategic sessions, guide architectural discussions, help frame data requirements, and identify opportunities where data solutions create business value.

Your application will consist of three consecutive interviews including a technical, online assessment after the first interview.

Experience

  • You have a completed master’s degree.
  • You have at least 8 years of working experience, of which 4+ years within Finance or Risk departments or related data-teams of a bank, insurer or credit institution.
  • You have hands-on experience in data-delivery for Finance, Risk and/or regulatory reporting contexts, e.g. through building and managing data warehousing or data lake solutions.
  • You have strong knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • You have experience with data solutions for (credit) modelling or financial/risk reporting in a regulated context, from requirements gathering to data collection to actual report or model development.
  • You are familiar with BCBS-239, Basel, IFRS9 or Solvency regulation and principles
  • You have experience in leading projects and talking to director/C-level stakeholders.
  • You have experience leading complex data projects and know how to manage diverse stakeholders (business, data, technical).
  • You have strong communication skills: you can persuasively advise on data architecture, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and provide substantive support.
  • You communicate effectively in both Dutch and English.
  • Please note: You already reside in the Netherlands and hold a valid work permit.
