Situation
The business side of the problem showed a lot of operation problems caused by a lack of data quality and no possibility to provide commercial data to other parties. The technical side of the problem showed abuse of logic in transactional systems (SAP) and the inability to efficiently use data provided by suppliers.
Approach
Valcon defined and implemented an MDM system on the product domain and provided a rollout plan per supplier within the boundaries of what the business was capable to handle.
Results
The company transformed into a front runner regarding data with efficient master data processes: from supplier data onboarding to commercial data including digital assets. All data quality problems have been resolved, and further data science initiatives to better service the customer were enabled. Better use of SAP as the ERP system: fit for purpose. The way of working is copied not other countries
