Valcon helped a Danish engineering company develop a supply chain as an important lever to improve competitiveness and profitability.

Situation

As a global provider of factories, machinery, services and know-how to the global cement and mineral industries in more than 50 countries, the client had large external costs related to projects and repeated purchases. In order to realise multidigit million savings, the engineering company needed assistance in acting strategically in their handling of the supply chain.

Approach

In cooperation with the client, Valcon prepared recommendations for the optimisation of the supply chain. Valcon also assisted the client in the execution of a large number of improvement projects, including process design and optimisation, setting up the basis for continuous improvements as well as the development and implementation of overall and category-/country-specific procurement strategy and organisation. Based on the successful cooperation, the client will continue to develop and improve its practice in the described areas now and in the future.

Results

The project ensured multidigit million annual savings and a basis for future realisation. At the same time, it contributed to noticeable behavioural change in work carried out in supply chain and large parts of the organisation.
