Maersk Line was experiencing on-time delivery challenges. Analyses showed that an improvement from approximately 80% to 95% in its ability to deliver on containers could grow a turnover of 17%, reduce costs by approximately USD 250 million and increase the company’s overall competitiveness and market shares.
Valcon helped Maersk Line improve its on-time delivery on containers by 10% by preparing a more robust sailing itinerary and thereby reduce operating costs. Valcon extended the KPI structure which made it possible for Maersk Line to measure on-time-delivery performance in relevant places on each route. In addition, Valcon identified a new savings potential as the higher precision in the sailing itineraries cut the time slots for calling at the terminal and for loading/ unloading containers.
The project resulted in a higher on-time-delivery percentage and increased transparency in on-time delivery and costs in all service lines.
