Enabling an automotive giant to seamlessly and cost effectively scale its translation needs 

Situation

A global automotive giant known for pushing the boundaries of innovation faced a challenge: how to efficiently translate a vast and ever-growing library of technical manuals into multiple languages – quickly, accurately and without spiralling costs. The existing process was manual-heavy, time-consuming, and prone to inconsistency. They needed a smarter, scalable solution that would keep up with their speed of development without sacrificing quality.

Approach

Valcon built and deployed an innovative data platform to give the client full control over how technical data is translated for use across their dealership network. Using a mix of translation memory, automated content management and neural machine translations, trained on the client’s historical data, we built a bespoke process that balanced cost, quality and time. Delivered as a SaaS model, the solution allowed the client’s teams to focus on what they do best, while translation happened in the background, accurate, consistent and fast. 

Results

The platform delivered measurable improvements across speed, cost and quality, including:  

  • With the new platform in place, the client saw a 70% reduction in time to market and a 67% drop in costs.  
  • Translation errors fell from 10% to just 0.5%, and over 30 million duplicates were eliminated in a three-year span.  
  • The platform now processes billions of words, powering the client’s global communications engine, without the overhead of traditional translation models.  

Manuals that once stood two metres tall in print are now 98% machine-translated, giving teams speed, control and serious savings.
