24/7 – A day in the life of a Valcon employee | Milos Ilic

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Business Analyst in one of the world’s largest breweries? Well, grab a coffee (or maybe a beer?) and let me give you a peek into my life as a consultant in Valcon South East Europe, currently working on a client project at one of the world’s largest breweries.

My day starts early, somewhere between 6 and 7 AM. Being the coffee lover I am, I cherish that quiet moment with my cup before the family wakes up. Then it’s coffee for my wife, a gentle wake-up call for my 6-year-old twins, and the day officially begins!

I’m not a big breakfast person (unless coffee counts!), but I know I need fuel for my busy day.  As a hybrid worker, I love the flexibility of working from home and the office. Since my kids’ training schedule changed, avoiding rush hour has been a lifesaver, I often say. You can find me in the Novi Sad office at least twice a week, collaborating with my amazing team.

My days are jam-packed. Starting around 9 AM, it’s a whirlwind of meetings: daily stand-ups, alignments with other teams, workshops with business stakeholders and discussions with platform leads. Afternoons are when I really get down to business: analysing information, translating requirements into clear documentation, testing systems and attending final calls. Around 5 PM, I finally get to switch off from the world of Master Data Management.

But that’s not all! I’m also a mentor and Data Insights Capability Lead at Valcon SEE. This means supporting colleagues, exploring new technologies and contributing to the growth of our team.

Lunchtime is my sanctuary, a moment for myself amidst the constant activity. Evenings are dedicated to my family, chauffeuring my kids to their various activities. I feel like a taxi service sometimes,” I joke, “but I secretly love it.” Once the kids are settled, I unwind with a movie, sports or learning something new.

Weekends are sacred. I recharge by spending time in nature with my family. Playing with my kids is the best way to de-stress, I truly believe that. And when I’m not chasing after my little ones, you might find me on the handball court. Though my handball career is nearing its end, I still enjoy staying active.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about continuing to grow my skills and expertise. I’ve mastered Agile methodologies, become proficient in Tibco EBX MDM technology and even earned several certifications. My focus is on navigating challenging requirements, adapting to new situations and constantly learning.

So there you have it – a glimpse into my life! It’s a balancing act between being a dedicated professional, a loving father and a lifelong learner. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
