The wholesaler had recently invested a double-digit DKK amount in an automated warehouse facility and had consolidated and outsourced its outbound freight to a strategic partner. The new logistics structure with only one warehouse facility instead of two forced them to review the contractual agreement. In addition, they had unsuccessfully tried to establish a transparent and collaborative delivery chain and needed help to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved delivery.
Valcon helped the client with a maturity assessment of the supply chain from goods receipt to final delivery to client and shops. The project was kicked off by generating 28 hypotheses obtained via stakeholder interviews and walking the process. An improvement catalogue and implementation roadmap were prepared based on the hypotheses with 18 improvement suggestions that could help realise an efficiency improvement of 9-11 FTEs and a cost reduction of DKK 7-10m.
The project provided the client with an implementation roadmap on how to implement 18 specific improvement suggestions.
