Data Modeler

Imagine you are helping to transform Valcons clients into data driven organizations. You are in close contact with business stakeholders to understand their business processes and to translate that into data models that fit business needs. Next to that, you facilitate the discussion to get alignment and common understanding regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.

You will be

As a Data Modeler you can make a difference by busing your strong communication skills towards the business and your engineering skills to implement data models. With your analytical skills you quickly understand business processes and data flows. Next to that, you understand what your team needs to successfully deliver the end-product. In your project team you are responsible for creating and maintaining data models for both reporting and data warehouse optimization purposes. You are familiar with working Agile teams, meta data management and data warehousing.

Responsibilities

Understanding business processes and translating those into data modeling requirements for (cloud based) data platforms and/or data analysis.

Modeling data and preparing workload for your colleague data engineers and modelers. 

Define modeling standards and best practices and maintain those in existing data models to ensure consistency.

Perform reverse engineering and evaluation of existing physical data models. Troubleshoot and optimize data models.

Training and guiding junior consultants in the above responsibilities. 

Co-developing Valcons Data Modeling propositions. 

Building and maintaining a relevant network with current and new customers.

Experience

  • A completed (technical) education with WO thinking and working level
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Data Modeler (or as a consultant with experience in data related projects)
  • Is familiar with/proficient in modeling related topics, e.g. oTypes of Modeling Principles (Conceptual, Logical, Physical) oTypes of Methodology (Ensemble, Dimensional, Relational) oImplementation standards (Data Vault, Kimball, Inmon, Graph)
  • Experience with digital tooling and visualization is a plus (ErWIN, ER/Studio, dbSchema, InfoSphere, SAP Powerdesigner)
  • Strong in a team and with stakeholders, with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Experience with data analysis using SQL, Python and/or R is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Purview) is a plus
  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting and dashboarding in general
  • Experience with the following project methods: Agile, Scrum, DevOps
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
