Valcon is currently looking for a skilled Data Modeller to join our team and help shape the future of data solutions. As a Data Modeller, you’ll play a key role in connecting business stakeholders with technical teams, translating complex business processes into sustainable, high-quality data models

What will you do?

As a Data Modeler at Valcon, you will collaborate closely with business representatives to define logical and conceptual data models for data warehouses and reporting purposes. You will be responsible for translating business processes into effective data solutions that support organizational goals. Your strong communication skills will be essential in bridging the gap between technical developers and business teams, ensuring that data models meet the needs of all stakeholders.
You will be a key player in a team of data experts, focusing on creating and maintaining data models for reporting and data warehouse optimization. Additionally, you will contribute to building and updating best practices and standards for data modelling within the team, ensuring a high level of consistency and quality.

Experience

  • A completed (technical) education with WO thinking and working level
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Data Modeler (or as a consultant with experience in data related projects)
  • Is familiar with/proficient in modeling related topics, e.g. oTypes of Modeling Principles (Conceptual, Logical, Physical) oTypes of Methodology (Ensemble, Dimensional, Relational) oImplementation standards (Data Vault, Kimball, Inmon, Graph)
  • Experience with digital tooling and visualization is a plus (ErWIN, ER/Studio, dbSchema, InfoSphere, SAP Powerdesigner)
  • Strong in a team and with stakeholders, with excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Experience with data analysis using SQL, Python and/or R is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Purview) is a plus
  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting and dashboarding in general
  • Experience with the following project methods: Agile, Scrum, DevOps
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a data modeller.
  • A proven track record and academic level of work and thinking.
  • Strong in a team and with stakeholders, with excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Familiar with/proficient in different methodologies (Ensemble, Dimensional, Relational) and different standards (Data vault, Kimball, Inmon, Graph).
  • Experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, reporting and dashboarding in general.
  • Experience in SQL (any other programming language is a plus).
  • Experience with digital tooling for modelling.
  • Experience with data management: you are able to set up a governance structure around data models.
  • You are Fluent in Dutch and English
