What do you think is the most interesting dilemma on the business agenda right now?
The pace and the frequency with which leaders need to plan and act is an interesting challenge. The days where management could plan for 3-5 years are over. Today, the best they can do is to develop “a good plan to deviate from”, which in turn puts requirements on “strategic readiness” of the leadership team and raises dilemmas regarding the balance between stamina and ability to change. I find that the strategy agenda of top management has changed to emphasise the ability to execute and obtain a real breakthrough performance. There is plenty of good strategic thinking going on in business today, but even the most admired companies struggle to allocate the project management and right resources that can actually drive and deliver a real and outstanding breakthrough. Again, the thinking is often in place, but nine out of ten companies are just playing the game – they are not winning.
What does The HOW mean to you?
